The following burial stones and their inscriptions are found in the Seaview Cemetery in Mount Sinai, NY. Many of the Helme Family interments did not take place at this location but were buried only a short distance from the Helme property on Miller Woods Drive. In the late 1890's there was a controversy over the use of the land and most of the burial stones were removed. Today there is only a small piece of wooded property left as a reminder of the former cemetery for the Miller and Helme families but the remains of these early families are still interred on the original site. To-date I have been unable to locate the burial stone of Thomas Helme III.
Consisting of a large stone with two foot markers (FS) reading GPH and HH.
See photograph from book titled “The Gravestones of Early Long Island”
Footstone reading T H is now placed in a location some distance from the gravestone and may have belonged to Thomas Helme (III) burial stone which is still to be discovered.
Remember ........... Blessed from their are the dead labour and who die in their works the Lord. do follow them.
