INDENTURE between William Jayne & Thomas Helme - 23 June 1704


To all to whome thefe prefents shall Come William Jayne of Brookhaven in ye County of Suffolke Cooper sendeth Greeting Know yea that J ye said William Jayne for ........ good Caufes me hereunto moving Efpecially for and in Consideration of Six pounds good & lawfull money of New Yorke to me in hand paid by Thomas Helme at the same place at and before ye enfolding & delivery of thofe prefents ye receit whereof I doe hereby acknowledge Have bargained sould given & granted and by those prefents doe for my selfe my haires Executors and Administrators fully feely & abfolutely Bargain sell give grant releafe & Confirme unto ye sd Thomas Helme his haires or affigns all that and fifty acre lot of land scituate Ajinged being at a place Commonly Called ye old mans knowne & diftinguifhed by ye number nine bounded on ye weft by ye land of Benjamin Davise & on ye Eaft by ye land of ye sd Thomas Helme together with all ye Ef..... right ...... property Claims titles doman of me ye said William Jayne my heires Executors or Admintin & to ye same and in & to every part ...... a member thereof and alfo seven acres of land in ye East Divifion which I ye sd William Jayne formerly purchased of Capt John Tooker late of Brookhaven above sd deceased as it was layd out & bounded and all ye immunitys priveliges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wife appertoining Together with the Evidence & records and inftruments in writing to me formerly made by Samuel Eburne late of Brookhaven above To Have & to Hold ye said fifty acres & ye said Said acres with the premifes herein and hereby granted bargained & sould ....... Thomas Helme his haires and affigns to ye only proper to benefit and behoofe of the said Thomas Helme his haires & affignes for every and ye said William Jayne ye said land & premifes unto ye said Thomas Helme his haires or affignes in his or their peaceable poffeffion anainst any buying Claims thereunto by from or under me ye Said William Jayne my heires Executors Adminiftrators or affignes shall & will warrant & for ever defend In witnefe thereof I ye sd William Jayne have hereunto set my hand & seale the twenty third day of June in ye year of ye reigne of our Sovereigne Lady Anne by ye grace of God of England & ye queen Defender at ye faith ... annoq Dom one thoufand Seven hundred & four.
